Summary
Twelve years ago, after a violent storm, a young woman was found on Omashu Beach, with no memory of her past life, and taken in by a convent of nuns. Mydeimos tries to find a cure for his terminally ill mother, Queen Gorgo, but attempt after attempt he fails. On his last chance, he captures a mermaid, a creature whose flesh should solve his woes, but he can't bring himself to kill and sets him free.
And when his father learns of such an act years later, he condemns him to drown in the same ocean where he enacted his betrayal, only to be saved by the very same mermaid who brings him to a secluded island to heal.

The Szarr pirates were not known for their mercy and Astarion had long lost the ability to care. One did not survive under Cazador's command without throwing their morals into the unforgiving waves of the ocean, and Astarion was very much planning on surviving this mess. The only thing Cazador did better than pillaging small unsuspecting ships was making enemies in deep waters.
Astarion slipped away from the chaos and into the deeper parts of the ship, hoping to find first whatever it was their captain had been so desperately searching for in the past few months.
