Caitlyn’s eyes shifted to her lap, suddenly very interested in her fiddling hands. “What kind of job is it?” she muttered. “You would be working as an assistant for an actress. You would be responsible for her paperwork, managing her schedule, stuff like that. They gave me a brief description of her… She sounds like a handful.”
Caitlyn scoffed, unsurprised by the last comment. She’d always known that actors and actresses were a handful. Most of them being entirely too stuck up to give a shit.
Caitlyn chuckled and let out a forced reply. “At least it’s a she. Might be fun to work with. Besides, it looks good on my resumé. It’s not my usual work, you’re right about that, but I’ve actually been thinking about pushing myself a little out of my comfort zone.” Grayson seemed pleased. Caitlyn could tell, even without looking at her expression.

“Do you have any idea who she is.?” The question almost sounded like a scolding, firm and aggressive, answering itself, leaving no room for Vi to speak.

“Up there, she should've been up there! If a person like her, with her status, would get hurt under our care, silver bullets would be quick to pierce our skulls.”

She had seen every manner of death, could see the inevitable in all, never tired and never slept. She never thought of her purpose, never questioned her place, could not imagine differently. Not until Jinx broke the cycle, and she stared at that which should be dead and wondered.
