The story and concept of this fan story are based on the popular comic ( Angel Fangs) by the talented and creative artist (mishim0) . The artist kindly allowed me to write a story about his comic, and I continued the story from the first chapter using my own ideas. The story follows Mayfair Lipp as she guides the group on their getaway - a cohort comprised of Billy Taupe, Lucy Gray, Corionalus Snow... and a reluctant Sejanus Plinth.
Mayflower is a piece I wrote in an effort to grow as a writer. Please be patient with me as I navigate fandom spaces for the first time, but be brutally rigorous with feedback. I wanted a challenge, after all!
Fanfiction is an art of its own, one that can be described as pulling on the loose threads left for readers to tie, a way to answer a story's unanswered questions. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is constantly one small decision away from things having turned out differently. Moments where I've screamed at the screen, "What if this had been different?!" Tiny moments - like Mayfair Lipp being shot by Coriolanus Snow - that hit the plot with a major domino effect.
I've heard all great fanfiction begins with a "What if?"
And Mayflower's is simple:
What if that fatal shot had missed?
