      1. Before Chenle can even curse out loud, Jisung’s hand immediately covers his mouth and huddles them behind a tree. “Holy fucking shit,” Jisung whispers against Chenle’s ear. Chenle says the same although his voice is muffled through Jisung’s hand. With his back pressed against Jisung’s Chest and Jisung’s other arm securely wrapped around Chenle’s waist,
      2. “Chenle,” The said boy tries not to laugh at how slurred Jisung’s word is. Jisung is looking at him, with his head on Chenle’s lap, and Chenle holds eye contact while he looks down on Jisung. “Have I told you that you’re pretty?”
      3. Chenle closes his eyes when Jisung starts playing with his hair, “Isn’t it a little too poetic dying in my arms like this?” Chenle’s eyes shoot wide open and he immediately bolts upwards.
      His heart rate is picking up again and this time it’s not from the tiredness.
      Jisung can’t say corny shit like that because Chenle might do something that will ruin their entire friendship.
      Chenle runs his fingers on Jisungs hair, elated at the hum the latter gives him. “It’s the third time today.”
      “Good,” Jisung closes his eyes. Satisfied with Chenle’s answer. “Because you are,”
      “I know.”
      “You’ve always been pretty.” Jisung’s words are almost incomprehensible but Chenle understands it loud and clear. “You look pretty everyday, you look pretty in my jacket.” Jisung giggles to himself. “That’s six times already.” The blush on Chenle’s face can be attributed to alcohol and not to Jisung’s drunk ass self professing his appreciation for Chenle’s facial features.
      And that moment, Chenle thinks that he might be able to handle it if Jisung is doing it on purpose.
      If it means that he gets moments like these.
      He’d forgive Jisung if it’s on purpose.
      4. “I can’t die like this!” He jumps. Chenle motions for Jisung to stand up. “Jisung let’s go! They probably reached the campsite already.”
      Jisung doesn’t budge, he just looks at Chenle — like it’s his first time seeing the other. Only when Chenle calls for him at the second time when Jisung snaps out of his reverie. He reaches out for Chenle. “Let’s rest a bit,” Jisung’s hand wraps on Chenle’s wrist. “I can’t let you trek with your face like that.”
      Caught off guard, Chenle’s hand flies up to his cheeks, “Like what?” He feels how warm it is. Jisung successfully coaxes Chenle to go back to his original position. Jisung, Chenle notices, is also sporting the same blush.
      “Like you’re about to pass out with how red your face is.”
      Chenle tries not to think — he pushes every clapback that echoes inside of his brain. He’s really one slip up away from losing his best friend.
      He can’t have that.
      5. “No,” Mark interrupts him, he sounds like he’s lost. Jisung holds his breath. “Wait— that’s not the issue at all. Why Renjun?”
      Now, it’s Jisung’s time to get lost. Jisung can list down 20 billion things on why Renjun is the best guy on earth and how he doesn’t deserve anyone, Jisung even more so than anyone else. But of course all he could say is, “Why not, Renjun?”
      “I mean—“ Mark runs a hand over his face. “How about Chenle?”
      “Chenle?”
      6. “Chenle,” Jisung calls out — Chenle only spares him a glance before he trudges through the sea of people.
      It takes Jisung three long strides and two hushed “Excuse Me’s” before he reaches Chenle and immediately Jisung takes his hand and intertwines their fingers together.
      There’s a pull on Jisung’s heart at how his hand dwarfs Chenle’s.

      Mark hesitates for a second before he says, “That person doesn’t want you in Chenle’s life.”
      “I’d walk away,” Jisung answers in a heartbeat. The words were out of his mouth before he even processed it — but he doesn’t regret saying it one bit.
      Jeno and Mark look at Jisung like he has grown a head or something.
      But, honestly it’s a no brainer to Jisung.
      If Chenle’s ultimate shot to happiness doesn’t want Jisung in his life, then Jisung would walk away — without question.
      Without hesitation.
      “You didn’t even hear the question yet!” Mark complains, a bit taken back with how easy Jisung answers.
      “I don’t need to,” Jisung eats another dumpling. “I know what I should do and I also know what I

      Jisung does the only thing he could — he leans down and kisses Chenle.

      And Jisung finally understands what love feels like.

    It became the main way that the bat kids communicated. You weren’t allowed to ignore the bat chirps.  You were completely okay to ignore anyone talking to you and not talk all day. But if you didn’t respond to a well check chirp in your vicinity Alfred would take away your cookies for weeks. And no one was willing to risk Alfred’s wrath and their cookie supply.

    All this to say that it was absolutely Dick’s fault that Jason was in this situation right now.

    “What’d he do?” Mark asked, chewing on a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Marissa took a particularly vicious bite out of her celery. 

    “He just is,” Jon sighed, talking to the table. Hannah and Marissa made eye contact over the table. This had been going on for over a month, everything Jon did had something about Dami thrown in. Dami is Muslim, Jon said in history when they were learning about world religions, Dami said that tomatoes are a fruit so you can’t convince me otherwise, he declared in the argument over that topic they’d had about a week ago, Dami said this book was good, but I don’t like it, when they were reading an excerpt in English.

    Fanfic of another fanfic, heavily inspired by "Operation: I am Human" by StandingBi.

    The Justice League believes Batman is a cryptid due to his tendency to use bird calls, hisses and grunts rather than words, odd mannerisms and other pieces of evidence that don't help Bruce's case. He struggles to clear the misunderstanding and continues making poor social decisions, which only fuels the fire.

    Chap 1: Hal gets the crazy idea to flash a laser pointing during a Justice League meeting. Bruce believes a sniper has somehow broken into headquarters, and chases after the laser. Everyone gravely misinterprets the situation, believing it to be some sort of instinctual urge. It spirals into something comedic, and entirely avoidable.

    + Various instances of the JL charting Bruce’s poor social skills to an animalistic instinct.

    Lightning flashed, lighting up the alley in front of him, revealing mud covered heels. He blinked and looked up, staring unseeingly at the woman standing in front of him. She wore a black evening gown, though the hem was ripped and rotting. The pearls on her necklace were framed and set into what looked like bottlecaps, the delicate chain missing links and replaced with thicker, common steel chain links. Her opera gloves were stained with green sludge and red brown smears on the fingers. Her hair was thick and grimy, whatever style it had once been carefully arranged in mussed and ruined.

    She smirked, lips twitching as she stared at him, as though he weren’t kneeling in a puddle of his parents' blood with their corpses lying beside him.

    “Who…?” His voice was barely audible over the rain as he spoke. She reached forward, hand grasping his chin and tilting his head side to side.

    “I’ll see you again...”

    Yellow eyes— seemingly devoid of a body— stared back at him from the darkness. They didn’t blink.

    Tommy’s breath caught in his throat.

    “No, no, no,” he whimpered. The rough forest floor cut into his bare feet and his ankle burned with every stumbled step backwards, but his fear outweighed any pain he could possibly feel.

    The yellow eyes didn’t move closer, but they did tilt, as if considering him.

    He took another step back.

    And promptly collided with something.

    Tommy screamed and lurched around, forgetting about the yellow eyes in his panic. To his horror, he found himself staring up at the most terrifying creature he’d ever seen.

    Red eyes stared, unblinking, back. White tusks— sharp enough to sink into Tommy’s soft flesh— shone in Tommy’s night vision.

    “Little one.” The voice was low and other-worldly. It paralyzed Tommy where he stood. “You should not be out here.”

    Tommy wasn’t breathing anymore. All functions had stopped beyond his heart pounding out a single word: run, run, run.

     

    Or, Tommy's running for his life from hybrid hunters, until suddenly, he's cornered by something much worse.
