Summary
The past is something that cannot be forgotten, especially for Ophelia, who in this story finally decides to tell the origin of the most famous and mysterious family of throwers in the Underground: the Shanes.
However, she also warns us of the weight of that encounter between two worlds, the clash that marked a point of no return for her identity and memories since that March 15, 1800, and which, for years, the Shanes themselves forgot; a time when a handful of people brought death, chaos, destruction, and corruption to the Underground from a place she never imagined she would call home.
It should be clarified that this story touches on strong themes and backgrounds of abuse in the history of some characters (just in case you're wondering about the reason for the rape/non-con tag); however, the most delicate issues of that kind will only be mentioned superficially and will not go into detail.
If you are a minor, I do not recommend reading my story, and if you do, it is at your own risk.

Grace had an aversion to swearing that Rocky couldn’t understand - which was frustrating since obviously Rocky had wanted to learn every Eridian curse word under the sun after they’d learned to communicate. It was an overall stupid and inconsequential thing, but he was just itching to hear him let loose a squeaky, frustrated fuck.
Rocky added that to his ever growing mental list of things he wanted to do with him: get Gracie off so good he finally said fuck.
Rocky was confident in his abilities to make it happen.
He’d be the best damn lay Grace ever had, actually. Alien species, be damned. Rocky was nothing if not adaptable and teachable; he aimed to please. He’d do whatever necessary to aid his best friend in succumbing to absolute bliss. It was a little ridiculous how fast that had become his new life’s mission.

"How—" Stratt cuts herself off. There's more murmuring. "Did you do it?"
A small noise croaks in the back of Grace's throat when he opens his mouth to reply. No words come out.
Did you do it? Did you save the world? Did you do what we expected of you?
He wonders: if he said no, would they let him land at all?
"I did it," Grace says, darting his eyes over to Rocky apologetically. Technically it was a team effort, but they can't know that yet.
There's more chattering on the other end, lots of excited voices. Someone laughs and the sound of it buries into his chest like a spear.
They're celebrating and happy. They almost killed him and they're laughing.
There's a clattering sound, like the radio is being picked up or moved, then Stratt's voice comes through again.
"We're sending coordinates for you to land."
Grace didn't expect it to be that easy. He stares down at the walkie in shock.
"Welcome home, Dr. Grace."

It's been years since Doctor Ryland Grace saved Erid and Earth. He is content with his life, happy just to teach the next generation of Eridians and have the occasional game night with Rocky and Adrian in his dome. For the most part, nothing changes.
And that's the problem. Shouldn't Grace, y'know...age? When Rocky indicates that he should be sixty human years old by now, Grace can't reconcile the young face in the mirror with the time that his friend has religiously kept.
Things get more complicated when another undoubtedly human ship shows up at the edge of the 40 Eridani system. Suddenly Grace is playing ambassador between the two species, and tensions are rising between them.
