Ilya froze for a moment, task forgotten, as he gazed at those freckles. Ilya noticed the strength in the lines of the prince’s face as he endured the agony of his injury. Ilya suddenly found himself adding a numbing element to his magic to ease the prince’s pain. It was silly, using magic resources for comfort when he needed it to defeat the poison, but Ilya did it anyway.
The prince’s eyes closed as the numbing set in and his face relaxed. Ilya had never been so struck by a human face before.

Maybe it has something to do with his godfather trying to get back into his life, or maybe the fact that his father’s 40th death anniversary is coming up. Whatever the reason, he has no time for distractions.
Hangman barely has any time for anything else, and Rooster has no time for distractions. Until they meet and they are exactly what each other needs.
