Summary
The type of person who will look at the world’s injustices and decide to fix them is, sadly, not the type of person that has a healthy relationship with self-worth.
It took Jason and B to get Tony to pay attention initially, but that doesn’t matter much. He knew that he would do unspeakable things for the kid since he laid eyes on him, blissed-out and nodding off in the basement of the abandoned warehouse he crawled into.

Summary
Hal had joked that Jason would be a great Green Lantern once. They had both laughed, but Jason knew that it was Hal’s way of showing that he noticed Jason’s effort. Bruce would never have done something like that. It was nice to be appreciated like that.
Bruce wouldn’t do a lot of what Hal did.
or: it started as a petty way of pissing bruce off, but somewhere along the way jason gains another parent

Summary
May realised a very long time ago that Buck was basically her stepbrother. So, when the lightning strike finally provided the impetus for Bobby to admit that he also brought a kid into their family, she had every intention of seizing the opportunity to properly integrate Buck into the Grant-Nash family.
And, look, if in the process she also gains a brother-in-law… clearly the universe was just waiting for the opportunity to make that happen.
-
Or, the one where May ensures Buck is enfolded properly into the Grant-Nash clan, which means Bobby (and by extension the firefam, because gossip) suddenly gets significantly more insight into the inner workings of the Buckley-Diaz family, and all roads lead to Buddie…

Two Nickels: Bobby & Buck (& Eddie) are(n't) just coworkers - Athena's Mom thinks Buck is Bobby’s (& Eddie’s) (she's not exactly wrong)
----
People never realised that Buck was hiding things from them; they always assumed they would be able to tell if he wasn’t being honest. What Buck was good at was keeping secrets. His skills lay in never revealing that there was anything to ask about which meant he was never put into a position where he had to lie. It was why the 118 had no idea Maddie existed until two days after she’d arrived in LA, it was why they hadn’t been aware of how terrible her ex-husband was until he had literally stabbed Chimney and kidnapped Maddie, and it was why it had taken months for them to learn that Buck had made the decision to attempt therapy again. -

Summary
It's the smoke that wakes him, seeping into his apartment not ten minutes after he finally knocks off.
He's off the couch in half a second, heart pounding with adrenaline, at the kitchen counter before he even realizes that the familiar smell in his nose is burning insulation.
There isn't any alarm going, no sprinklers on, no neighbors screaming or doors banging open, but Buck knows.
"9-1-1," says a vaguely familiar voice on the other end of the phone once he punches in the numbers. "What's your emergency?"
