Summary
Sunny learned the truth of what happened to Mari, but it took him too long. He couldn't save Basil.
After witnessing his friend dead and laying in a pool of his own blood, Sunny was terrified and ran away. But he did not run home, for whatever reason he was compelled to run somewhere else, to a place that held many memories dear to him: the hangout spot.
There, he'd be joined by one of his dear friends, and amidst their guilt and self hatred, they'd find solace in each other, as well as the strength and courage to try to move on.-

It has been 50 years since the Deitians, a group of intergalactic beings of divine origin, had landed on the Earth with the goal of destroying all sentient life. No group or person alive could stop their destruction. All except the Technimals: a group of cybernetically modified humans with hearts and souls of gold, implants and armor of synthetic titanium, chosen by the Earth itself to fight for autonomous love and life. Their crusade has created a stalemate against the Deitians, and a relative form of peace has been made.
Sunny Suzuki, a boy who is loathed by his hometown and all who live in it, has taken up arms to find any meaning he can in his short life. But an old friend returns to his life, and feelings begin to emerge again, whether they both want them to or not. Sunny risked his life to escape his dreams. When he moved, he left it all behind. His friends, Headspace, the piano, and the broken violin... Mari. All of it is behind him now. Kel still calls on occasion, inviting him to spend the summer with them, but despite how much he wants to visit, he can’t bring himself to go back to faraway.
...Until one day, the landline to his new home gets a call from the new folks who moved in to their old house. Ever since they found the broken violin, strange things have been happening in the house. A figure with long, black hair in the mirrors, the piano playing itself late at night, and a haunting eye, staring at into the house from the backyard. Sunny doesn’t need to question them further. He knows who it is.
And so, with nothing but a suitcase full of clothes, some cash, and a ticket to faraway, Sunny embarks on a quest to find out that his dreams may have more power of the real world then he might have realized, and to answer the call for help, or blood, that he knows his sister calls him to.

Summary
