Summary
“Careful now, girl”, Yolanda coos. It comes with the tip of the knife kissing the soft underside of Trinity’s chin.
Immediately, Santos locks up. Pupils dilating at the tone, at the touch of the blade. Keeps completely still, watching Yolanda’s eyes darken.
For a beat, they stay like that.

Summary
“I usually have pretty good judgment,” Garcia continues. “I stay calm, I think clearly, and I make logical choices. But when you came to me with extremely reasonable concerns about someone I’ve worked with for a long time, I snapped at you and shut you down. You deserved patience, and advice, and respect,” Garcia admits, “and I’m sorry.”
Trinity takes a moment to digest all of this, then nods a little, then takes a half-step closer as a sign of trust or whatever. “Thank you,” she says quietly and finds Garcia’s eyes. “I really… I appreciate all of that. Thank you.”
She watches Garcia’s posture relax slightly, then watches Garcia take her own small step forward, then watches Garcia’s expression shift into something that makes Trinity’s breath catch.
“Can I make it up to you with a cocktail?”

Summary
"I really liked The Horse and His Boy," she says. Trinity decides not to question the title as Yolanda goes through an abridged plot summary. For the parts she still remembers at least. Sometimes Trinity wishes that her memories would dull around the edges too, especially for things she doesn't want to remember. But her mind picks out moments to burn into her retinas in high definition, with edges sharp like broken obsidian. And once they're preserved like that, it's impossible to forget things.
OR
Trinity grapples with the duality of memory and the paradox of happiness, goes to therapy and finally starts talking to her girlfriend over reading childrens books.

Summary
Santos should be in her last year of med school, but instead, she's making coffees across the street from the life she's supposed to have.
She's good at keeping people out, burning things down before they burn her first.
Then Garcia walks in and orders the shitty-looking cinnamon roll, and it all goes sideways from there.

Summary
Closing the distance between them, Trinity wonders just what Dennis could have done to have Yolanda seething so, but then she is beside her and sees Dennis, his head hung in shame. Toothpaste foam decorates his face, and a purple toothbrush—not his blue one—protrudes from his mouth.
Trinity cackles. “Again?”
———
Trinity, Yolanda, and a domestic morning interrupted by none other than Fuckleberry.
