He gets to lab early, he plays intramural hockey once a week, he monitors the use of the department's nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer every Monday night. Just a couple more years of keeping his head down and he'll graduate with his PhD. That is, until a new research group arrives: one that includes brash Russian graduate student Ilya Rozanov. Rozanov is loud and charming and popular and annoyingly, just as good at chemistry as Shane. And for some reason, won't leave the department's most boring, serious student alone.
