Except he looks so, so different from how he did in the kitchen, or even out on deck while sparring Zoro. There’s a deadly expression on his face, stone cold and shadowed by the brim of his hat. His features are mostly blank and unreadable, thoughts carefully concealed with the skill of someone who’s experienced in confrontations, but his eyes give him away. They’re hard and black as coal, smoldering with an intensity that could only be deep-seated rage barely controlled, like the embers of a dying fire that could easily burst back to life if poked and prodded enough. The grip he has on Sanji’s arms is harsh and unyielding, and Sanji winces as Ace’s belt buckle bites into his lower back from how firmly he’s pushing the blonde up against the wall.

The man got on his nerves, even when he wasn't trying to do so. He couldn't tolerate the detectives presense back when the Moriarty Plan was still going on and he couldn't tolerate him now. If it was up to him, if William didn't take an infuriating interest in him, the bloody guy would be long gone and resting six feet under the soil with worms to accompany him.
Don't get him wrong, he didn't hate him, Lord no. He would rather chop his own head off than admit it, but he was glad he didn't kill him when he had stronger urges to do so. The man did save his beloved brother after all.

Did he need to act so.... personal with William?
