Summary
Mateo Chavez, or Matty as he now goes by, has escaped from his old life with his daughter Louella. Fleeing to the town of Safehollow, he attempts to rebuild and be unknown. What he didn’t expect was bookstore owner Nancy Gillian to work her way into his and his daughter’s hearts. He slowly grows to befriend the people in this small town but it all threatens to come down when his past makes a reappearance.

Being a hybrid wasn't easy. Some might call it a curse.
A genetic mutation known as the Hybrid Gene creates a new species of humans mixed with animalistic traits.
Not everyone hated hybrids, some were more indifferent. It was difficult enough to protect Ninjago, but with half the citizens praying for the ninja's downfall it was near impossible.
And then the son of the Dark Lord had to go let out a bunch of snakes.

They were not dying today.

Every team has a weak link, he supposed. The wind whipped around him, howling and screaming with an eerie dissonance. He felt a frigid shiver roll down his spine. He sucked in a breath, holding back salty, unshed tears. He closed his eyes. Inhaling. Easier to blame the wind than to face the truth. With that exhale came a final thought.
“It's better this way.”

No matter how hard he tries, he is never enough to protect others. He’s never serious. He arrives too late. He can’t control his powers enough to protect the ones he loves. He’s always been the weak link.
Wojira is rising.
As the ninja race to stop Wojira, everyone on the team must step up. Otherwise, Ninjago will fall. Jay holds his family close to his heart. Just like his lightning. Maybe it’s time for him to finally let go.
(A Seabound rewrite but I switched Jay and Nya because I need more Jay angst in life.)
