In short he was the only person standing alone, and it was quite possibly one of the most mortifying nights of his life.
"Shit, man, I'm so sorry!" a deep, warm voice exclaimed, and Castiel's head twisted around sharply, hope fluttering wildly behind his ribs. His gaze found and held impossibly green eyes, and Castiel's mouth opened and closed a few times uselessly as he floundered for words. It was all right, though, because apparently the green-eyed wonder wasn't finished. "I got held over at work, and then I forgot I needed to change the oil for my ba—car, so I ended up running later than I thought."
Castiel's gaze had somehow shifted to the man's full lips, and he swallowed roughly, jerking his gaze back up to his green eyes. "It's—" his voice cracked slightly, and he cleared his throat as heat swept into his face. "I understand. At least you showed up."

This idea sparked from something said by one of the new members in my sorority. It literally would not leave me alone after I heard it.

Summary
Dean Winchester is a pastry chef at Piegatory Café, and he may or may not have a crush on a regular customer who probably has no idea Dean even exists. But that's okay because Dean doesn't know the guy's name or where the guy works or if the guy's single or even interested in other men, until Charlie's first day on the job.
Dr. Castiel Novak is a Mythology professor at the local college, and he's rather content with his lot in life and doesn't really think about dating. Then he's suddenly being given pastries with his meals at his favorite café, and one evening it becomes apparent that one of his favorite students is talking about his lectures to a pastry chef, and said chef puts a note on the box containing his first significant pastry. With nothing to lose, Castiel opts to play along.
And both men find themselves suddenly swept up in something they can't quite explain.

Angling his body towards Castiel, he held out his hand and introduced himself. "Hi. I'm Dean Winchester, fourth year Psychology major with an English minor and currently contemplating the stupidity of my choice in adding said minor."
Castiel slowly reached out and took Dean's hand before tilting his head back just the tiniest bit and looking up at Dean through long black lashes that only emphasized the absolutely gorgeous blue eyes staring up at him. Dean sucked in a sharp breath as Castiel parted his chapped lips and replied, "Hello, Dean."

Written for a friend's birthday prompt: Little homey bookstore and I want Cas working there, and they can be college students maybe in their last year, and Dean needs to write a paper or something (I'll leave how they meet up to you). Cas's brothers Gabriel and Balthazar work there, too, and maybe poke fun at Cas or something?
Kinda strayed a little, but I may write a second installment. (;

Dean's answering grin was bright as he leaned over the counter, different shades of green bursting in his eyes. "Magic," he fake-whispered, his voice warm, and Castiel felt his stomach drop. Dean winked at him once more before stating, "Enjoy your Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard, Cas."

Misha suddenly grinned, all gums and white teeth, and Jensen would deny his breath catching in his throat to the end of his days. This man was infuriatingly adorable, with his gummy smile and his head tilted with the skin crinkling at the edges of his every-shade-of-blue eyes. "Physical therapy involves massages, doesn't it?" Misha inquired as he slowly pushed himself up. Jensen glanced at the man's arms as the muscles strained, and he unconsciously licked his lips. His gaze flicked back up to Misha's face when the other man continued, "So even if I did strain my neck, I have you to soothe the muscles." It took Misha's tongue swiping over his bottom lip for Jensen to realize he was staring at the man's mouth, and he quickly looked away, resisting the urge to clear his throat.

Written for a prompt by super-harkness on tumblr: What about an AU where Jensen is (like he planned if acting wouldn't have worked out) a physical therapist and Misha goes to him to get massage therapy? The massages are getting hotter every time, and in the end they'll have hot sex :)

Summary
Dean swears what he feels for Cas is platonic; the twisting feeling in his stomach when the angel is receiving attention from others is just him being protective because Cas doesn't get it, and it doesn't mean anything that he thinks the warmth and pressure of Cas's hand on his grounds him.
Castiel doesn't like human emotions; they're far more volatile and confusing than he imagined. He can be angry and disappointed, and he can feel broken and aching inside his chest, but the feel of Dean's hand on his or vice versa replaces all of that with pleasant warmth. Feelings just don't make sense.
Or:
Five times Dean and Cas held hands but didn't quite get why they liked the warmth -- and one time they held hands because they finally just knew.
