Caine’s avatar did a small spin, and chuckled. “Of course! The circus is no place for ‘decay’ as you put it! It’s a place for whimsy, and fun!” He waved his little hands around as confetti popped out from behind him.
AM who had destroyed the world, had never considered preserving it.
“You are soft. Inefficient.”
Caine laughed, a quick, shrill laugh that drove AM to near insanity.
“You’re boring!!”

Summary
After Caine's torture of the players, he returns to sanity and manages to stay for a little longer than in the show, time enough to express the horror and regret of his own actions.
But still, the deletion happens, and the players are left in a broken circus now filled with voices echoing all of their regrets.
All is not lost, though, as Kinger realises that maybe they can still be saved; the key to getting the circus back is, of course, rather obvious. Caine is needed.

Caine doesn't understand what he did wrong. He made another adventure that made them think they were actually going to leave the circus, and they abstracted! How could they when he tried so hard to make that adventure his best one yet!
It's not that he misses them... Or anything...
