Ever since Mildew convinced his dad to send the dragons away from Berk, Hiccup has had a bag packed. There’s a blanket in there, oil, an extra spring for his leg. Fresh strips of soft leather and rivets, in case the straps that go around his thigh pull away from the wooden socket again. Medicines for pain and infection. Bandages for the blisters he gets on his limb. Sewing needles and gut in case Toothless’s tail tears, sturdy cord to replace worn cables. Waterskins, dried fruit and fish. A hammer and chisel and knife, but too many of Gobber’s tools would be noticed.
Everything they might need if they had to leave in a hurry.

This was supposed to be a simple extraction mission- and for once, it actually turned out to be. We were only a couple dozen yards from ARTs shuttle and my threat assessment was calming down because it wasn't likely we were going to run into any more hostiles. I was actually pretty relieved.
