    “Who’s Sasha, honey?” Alina asks. 

    “My friend, he’s sitting right there.” 

    Alina follows Karina’s gaze to the empty chair in between them, a small tea set settled in front of the chair that mirrors her own. She should be too old for imaginary friends, but she supposes the move was stressful, so this could be how she’s dealing with such a change. 

    “Okay,” Alina resigns. “Does Sasha want me to stay?” 

    “Yes,” her daughter giggles, “Sasha likes you a lot, too.”

    “Excuse me?”

    Maxi could only blink up at him expectantly. “A baby. We should get one.”

    Riftan’s eyebrows raise, setting the goblet of wine on the nearby table. “Why are you saying it like we’re just buying a basket of apples at the town square?”
