Does such a thing as a higher being exist in reality? None of the Marauders were particularly religious but after these stark turn of events, they found themselves begging for a higher power to free themselves from their own guilt and internal torment.

Wanting to avoid the expulsion of Moony, the Marauder's challenge their morality and go to extreme lengths to cover up the murder of Severus Snape. They're just not so sure they can get away with it, they certainly can't outrun the guilt eating them alive.

Summary
Inside, Evan cleared his throat with theatrical determination.
“Eggs,” he announced.
The pale hands froze.
Then, very slowly, they reached for the egg bowl.
“Carefully,” Evan warned at once. “Carefully. It is my birthday. You will be kind to me because I am delicate and beloved.”
One hand patted his cheek.
The other picked up an egg.
“Good boy,” Evan said under his breath, smiling.
The reaction was instant.
The hand in the air stilled.
The fingers flexed once.
Then Regulus, hidden from view, pressed closer into Evan’s back, all silent pleased heat and traitorous softness. Evan felt it, laughed quietly, and took the smallest step back to support his weight more securely.
Pandora saw it and pointed at them like she’d found evidence of a crime. “That’s cheating.”
“Yes,” Dorcas said. “But effective.”
Evan smiled to himself. “Now, darling—”
The egg cracked directly against his temple.
The sound rang through the kitchen.
Everyone stared.
A beat later, yolk began to slide slowly down the side of Evan’s face.

3. Become the wizard he was always meant to be.But things go sideways when Lily is sorted into Gryffindor. And Severus? He throws the plan away.
