"Bruce fucks me too," Tim states, making his brothers flinch. "You know that."
"Yeah, uh, sure," Jason tells him. "Look, man, we really shouldn't talk about this—"
"I just— I didn't know Bruce was like that," Tim looks down, crossing his arms. "He never— He's not sweet to me. He's not mean, but he— doesn't do all those things you said."
Tim doesn't tell them, doesn't even think about those times when he thought Bruce had called his name while buried deep in his guts, and Tim had dared to think he actually cared about him. He had allowed the spark of hope be born in his chest, small and fragile — only to pay attention and hear his brothers' names falling from his father's lips instead, voice warm and adoring like a plea.
Tim overhears Dick and Jason talking about how Bruce groomed them. But he wasn't loved enough to be pursued like that.
His brothers show him otherwise.

You obviously wouldn’t think so by looking at him, but Jason’s sensitive. One overly mean joke can hide and fester in his mind for days, until he has enough and asks Tim, point blank, what he meant by that, generally with a scowl and crossed arms. He reads into things, like the people around him—Tim, Dick, Bruce—have some kind of coded lenguage they use to show just how much they don’t want him around.
