Summary
Getting settled on a new planet has all kinds of ups and downs, Ryland Grace knows this. Eridian's are very different, not to mention simply their method of speech.
Grace may have forgotten to mention that some forms of sound, sudden and sharp, are painful to humans. It never came up, and after nearly a year on Erid, it had sort of slipped his mind. Not to mention, being on a space craft for nearly five years must have brought an issue like this to light, but it seems that he and Rocky had just gotten lucky.
The alternative, the pain of new sounds is discovered the hard way, with a bit too much blood as a result.

It’s not the first time Player’s randomly showed up at his door. The first time was much more awkward, Player dropping by like they ran through a wall of fire with their left arm scorched from a launcher rocket incident.. plus a head injury that Noobador had to take care of for them.
It’s a good start that, instead of appearing half dead, they’re only shivering from being drenched by the storm.
The tension from Noobador’s body releases as he makes his decision, his shoulders falling. “If you’re asking to stay the night, you can sleep on the couch.”

“What made you come up with this?” Grace asks. His voice is thick.
“Grace need comfort,” Rocky says matter-of-factly. “Like a hug. This comfort Grace, question?”
Grace presses his hand more firmly against the top of Rocky’s carapace, and Rocky shifts a bit within the xenonite, rising so that they make nearly direct contact through the panel. It’s not like they haven’t done something like this before—Rocky is always pressing his claws up against Grace’s palm—but it’s different for Grace’s whole hand to be so close, to feel the heat of a living thing against his side and against his palm all at once.
“Yeah,” Grace breathes.
