And perhaps I guess you could come here is not a stern come to Palmetto that it could have been, but it is not good enough, it is not what Jean wants from him. In the end that’s what’s changed the most: Jean can want things now, not as much as his heart would like to, but just enough to expect something honest from Kevin.
Jean brushes his fingers over the ridiculous print of a beret on his brand new sheets and asks, "Is there even a difference in your vocabulary between those two?"
"Is there for you?" Kevin retorts.or, Jean Moreau agrees to visit Palmetto during winter break. It goes about as well as you might expect.

Naruto blinked. "What..?"
Sasuke stormed up to him, eyes burning as Naruto quickly backed up, trying to get away from him. He grabbed the blonde, spun him around, and held his head in place as he forced him to look in the mirror.
“That" he said coldly. "Tell me how that happened."
Naruto tried to turn his head away, but Sasuke's grip tightened, keeping him locked in place. "Let go" he breathed.
Sasuke’s eyes hardened as he stared back at the blonde’s pained reflection. "You will tell me what happened to you", he said firmly.

Sokka has always had bad luck. He might just be the meat and sarcasm guy but after getting captured, twice, he finds himself becoming the meat, sarcasm, and single father guy.
*Note* This story isn't as funny as the title may seem. Originally this was a small joke when I started writing it but because I can't do anything without being serious and adding angst, this story is probably more serious than the title implies.

Sokka isn’t stupid. Not that his sister is, mind you (at least, he’d never call her that to her face now that she’s honed her waterbending), or any of the rest of Team Avatar, although sometimes it feels like he’s living in a different world from the rest of them — a world where running out of food means starving, and walking into a town full of firebenders with the Avatar in tow will get you killed, rather than help you free a beaten-down Earthbender colony.
Anyways.
Sokka isn’t stupid, which is why he laughs directly in Aunt Wu’s face when she tells him that he will marry the Fire Lord.

Because of his status as Spirit envoy, his engagement to Princess Yue was inevitable. But he doesn't love her and, desperate to change his destiny, journeyed with Avatar Aang to escape his fate.
Zhao the "Moon Slayer" doesn't die during the invasion of the North Pole, and takes Sokka captive. It's his destiny, he insists.Fate has a twisted sense of humor - the last person Sokka wants to trust ends up saving him. He'll play nice with the Fire Nation prince only until he can find Aang and Katara again. Because even if Zuko is the lesser of two evils, they will never, ever, be more than temporary allies.

Summary
Sokka’s posture is perfect, demure but attentive. His head is tilted down, but his eyes crane up to take inventory of the man who just entered. This is the Fire Lord? He’s tall and rail-thin, exaggerated by the angle, and can’t be much older than Sokka. His face is cast in shadow, but Sokka can still make out the shiny pink outline of the distinctive scar that had marked the portraits that hung in all the ships and chambers he’d so far passed through. Actually, it’s not so bad — not nearly as frightening as the bright red disfiguration he’d seen illustrated.
“First, a gift. A tribute from the Southern Water Tribe.” Fengwei doesn’t make any gesture toward Sokka, because Sokka is the only thing in this room that doesn’t already belong to Zuko. Only for a few more minutes, surely. “A Water Tribe noble,” he tacks on, and Sokka has to slam his throat shut to quell the bemused snort that threatens to bubble out of him. It’s funny, in a way. Maybe not ha ha funny, but. You know. Funny.

Book one ends with two major diffrences: 1. Sokka went on the mission with Hahn (it did not go well) 2. Zhao survives the North Pole and that proves unfortunate for everybody (except Zhao, obviously)
Imprisoned on Zhao’s war ship, Sokka and Zuko have to work together to survive. They are not very enthusiastic about this prospect.
And they argue.

During a storm, Sokka finds himself alone on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean. If his slim chances of survival weren't enough, he also gets to be stalked by a merman. After a few grueling days of managing to not get killed, he is saved and taken away from the blasted creature.
But Sokka will soon find out that the sea has ways to make its horrors follow him on land, for better or for worse.

Summary
Sokka is captured by the Fire Nation just as Ba Sing Se falls. Due to be executed on Fire Lord Ozai’s orders, Zuko steps in and claims Sokka as his war prize, taking him as his First Consort.
It’s not a match made in heaven, but more of a fight to the finish line. Sokka wants to be free and Zuko wants to take down Ozai. Neither of them know if the Avatar lives, but they need to work together if they want to succeed.
There’s just the small matter of both of them having to convince the Fire Nation court that they are lovers, rather than mortal enemies…

Sokka takes a strategic step back, but he also smiles: triumphant, like he baited Zuko into exactly what he wanted. Like it’s a challenge. It’s the same way he looked when they sized each other up at the prison, with Sokka in chains that left red marks around his wrist, in tattered prison garb, malnourished and angry. Back then, that was Sokka saying: I see your power. I see you. Now, see me.
Zuko saw him then. And he sees him now; different, but the same. I see you.
Zuko lights his daos in flame. Sokka grins, back to gravel and heat. “Come on, Fire Lord. Impress me.”
Zuko burns. His vision flickers with fire. His heart races. His blood sings. His body is like a magnet, pulling ever onward to meet Sokka’s. He advances.
He pins Sokka to the wall, blades against his throat.
Or, Zuko found Aang first, Sokka and Katara were imprisoned in Boiling Rock for trying to rescue their dad, and all Sokka knows is he's pretty sure he's not supposed to think the Fire Lord is attractive but he's never let things like rules stop him before.
